The Gray's Inn Annual Moot Competition Final

The moot will be followed by a dinner

Qualifying Session (QS): 1 QS

The Prize

Three Raymond Buildings (3RB) Nicholls Prize for Mooting. The Nicholls Prize will be presented annually for the next ten years to the winner of the Gray’s Inn Moot final

The prize has been launched in memory of Clive Nicholls QC. Clive was called to the Bar in 1957, took silk in 1982,  sat as a Recorder of the Crown Court between 1984 and 1999 and became a Bencher of Gray’s Inn in 1989. He was  a member of 3RB for 60 years, and Head of  Chambers for 16 years of those years

The Nicholls Prize continues from the 3RB DuCann Advocacy Prize for Mooting, which ran from 2008 to 2017

Booking

Open to student members of the Inn.

Book and pay online via the Gray's Inn Online System (GIOS)

Benchers who wish to attend should contact the Education Department.

Booking will open approximately 8 weeks prior to the event and will close, (for barrister members) 4 clear working days and (for student members) 5 clear working days before the event

Cost

  • Students & Barristers (from 3 years of Call): £18
  • Benchers & guests: £35

Qualifying Sessions

You must present your printed bar coded ticket at the door to enter and be accredited with a QS. 

The dress code for all Qualifying Sessions (QSs) unless otherwise stated is:

  • dark suits with white shirts (men and women) and ties (men)
  • gowns (students, barristers and benchers - except guests)
