Wellbeing at the Junior Bar
The Gray’s Inn Barristers’ Committee (GIBC) invites you to a Junior Bar event: 'Stress Test Your Practice: Wellbeing and Coping with Pressure at the Bar'.
This event seeks to promote wellbeing at work for those at all stages of the profession, from students to established practitioners.
The event
The event is open to all members of the Inn.
Qualifying Session (QS): Not accredited as a QS
Cost: Free of charge but registration is required
Dress code: Smart casual
A mindfulness session
A mindfulness session will be run by Gillian Higgins, a practising barrister and meditation teacher.
This session is optional and spaces are limited - please book early to avoid disappointment.
Time: 6.15 - 6.45pm
Location: The Education Training Rooms (ETRs)
A panel talk and discussion
A number of speakers will share different perspectives and experiences on wellbeing.
TIme: 6.45 - 8pm
Location: The Bingham Room
The event will be followed by a drinks reception with canapes.

- Sir Mark Waller (former Court of Appeal judge and representative of the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust)
- Sam Mercer (Head of Equality and Diversity at The Bar Counci and member of the Wellbeing at the Bar Working Groupl)
- Gillian Higgins (Barrister at 9 Bedford Row and meditation teacher)
Booking
You are welcome to attend part of the event if you are unable to attend both the mindfulness session and panel discussion. Please note that places for the mindfulness session are limited.
