Lord Justice Peter Jackson on, ‘Is Family Law law?’

Lord Justice Peter Jackson was called to the Bar in 1978 and between 1979 and 2010 undertook a range of civil and criminal work, increasingly specialising in family law and in medical treatment cases. He was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1997, a Recorder and a QC (now KC) in 2000, and a Deputy High Court Judge in 2004. In 2010, he was appointed to the High Court (Family Division) and was the Family Division Liaison Judge for the Northern Circuit between 2011 and 2017. He chairs the Board of Trustees of RCJ Advice, the national Citizens Advice Service delivering free legal advice and access to representation for Litigants in Person. He became a Lord Justice of Appeal in October 2017.
