Gray's Inn

Court Pupillages (Marshalling)

We are able to arrange up to a 5 day Court Pupillage (also known as Marshalling) for you with a member of the Inn who sits on the Bench. This offers you an excellent chance to improve your insight into the role of the judiciary, court procedure and styles of advocacy.

The programme is available from January of each academic year and is open to you if you are a member of the Inn and either:

  • in your final year of university
  • a current CPE/GDL student
  • a current BPTC student

If you are participating in the scheme, you may find guidance on how to address judges and others useful.

A really fantastic experience. The judge could not have made me feel more welcome.

If you have further questions regarding the programme, please email Vicky Hanson.
