First Treasurer

William Walsingham (b. after 1480, d. 1534) was a lawyer and landowner.

He was the Autumn Reader 1530, and first Treasurer of Gray's Inn from Michaelmas in the same year. He is, however, mostly notable as the father of Sir Francis Walsingham, Queen Elizabeth's famous, and notorious, Principal Secretary, himself admitted to Gray's Inn in 1552.

The Walsingham arms are pictured above.
