Sir Samuel Romilly
Samuel Romilly (1757-1818; called 1783) was a KC and reforming politician, one of the most distinguished Inn members of the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Among the many causes which he championed he was an active supporter of the anti-slavery movement. Overcome by grief at the death of his wife, he committed suicide in 1818.
His memorial plaque is attached to 6 Gray's Inn Square.
