The Bingham Scholarships Fundraising Appeal
Background
The Appeal was established in 2011 in honour of Master Bingham who was a British judge and a valued member of the Inn. He served in the highest Judicial offices of the United Kingdom as Master of the Rolls, Lord Chief Justice and as Senior Law Lord before his retirement when he focused his work as a teacher and lecturer in human rights. He died of cancer in 2010 at the age of 76.
Objective
The fund is dedicated to ensuring that its scholarships and awards are competitive and provide a good platform from which students can progress to a successful career at the Bar.
In early 2011 the Inn set out to encourage its members of chambers to donate as much as they could to the Appeal. Over £400,000 was raised that year and the fund has since passed £600,000.
Donating
In a bid to continue raising funds we now ask all our members for an annual donation of just £100.
You can donate by:
- a cheque made payable to ‘The Scholarships Trust Fund’ (remember to also complete and enclose a Gift Aid Form)
- standing order by completing a Gift Aid Form (editable document) and a Standing Order Form (editable document)
Please send your cheque or Standing Order Form, together with your Gift Aid Form, to:
