The Gray’s Inn Barristers’ Committee organised an event online and in person on the Northern Circuit on 16 February which saw Master Satvinder Juss give a talk on Slavery and the Law and Reshma Ruia, a Manchester-based novelist, giving a reading from her new book Still Lives. The evening was introduced by Sir Stephen Irwin, past Master Treasurer of Gray’s Inn and a retired Lord Justice of Appeal.
A mix of students, barristers and Benchers attended, providing an opportunity for our Members on the Northern Circuit to network after the two stimulating talks. Those who joined in person were able to continue the evening with dinner at a local restaurant, joined by the speakers.
Thanks to our speakers, Byrom Street Chambers for hosting and the hard work of GIBC in bringing the event together so successfully.
