Salary: £26-28k (based on 35 hour week) pro rata salary for part time

The Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Training and Education Officer (TEO) to support all aspects of our programme. The TEO has responsibility for ‘end to end’ management of events which includes planning and execution in accordance with direction set by the Training Education Manager (TEM), but often operating with limited supervision. The TEO will supervise other team members in the delivery of events and will be responsible for ensuring trainers and staff allocated meet quality requirements. The TEO will input into the design and development of the future programme and support projects where required.


  • Plan and execute events in accordance with direction from the TEM
  • Incorporate outstanding actions and lessons learned into events
  • Liaise with internal and external organisations to deliver the programme
  • Provide ‘on the day’ event management including the supervision of other team members
  • Liaise with committee members, students and trainers to ensure successful delivery of the programme
  • Acts as the Training and Education Team’s point of contact with the Gray’s Inn Banqueting and Finance Depts
  • Collect and manage data to include reporting of attendance and achievement to the Compliance and Member Services Team
  • Input data and generate reports from the MAGIC database
  • Support the delivery of other departmental events as required
  • Respond quickly and effectively to enquiries, including management of allocated Inboxes
  • Communicate effectively with the other teams within the Department and the wider Inn
  • Maintain accurate online information
  • Ensure complaints are escalated promptly, in accordance with the Inn’s policy
  • Answer enquiries relating to all areas of Education Department business promptly and effectively or escalate to the relevant manager
  • Seek regular feedback on the T&E Programme
  • Identify improvement opportunities for programmes
  • Support projects as required
  • Manage the collation and reporting of student and trainer feedback questionnaires
  • Record trainer feedback at post-event reviews
  • Maintain records of trainer competence and achievement
  • Maintain training documentation, including version control and quality checking
  • Act as administrative point of contact for the Inn’s External Observer

Required / preferred skills

  • An understanding of UK Higher Education and/or vocational training
  • Event management experience
  • A good eye for detail
  • Team leader experience, preferably in an events or T&E context
  • Good written communication skills
  • Works well to deadlines
  • Good IT skills including experience of MS Office
  • Good time management skills
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when required (time off in lieu)
  • Good customer service skills
  • A team-player


The position is part time and is negotiable between 17.5 and 21 hours per week. The Inn offers a generous package of 33 days annual leave (pro rata for part-time employees) in addition to 8 bank holidays, free lunch during legal terms and a staff pension.
