This seminar, presented in partnership with the Singapore Academy of Law, marks the 50th anniversary of the landmark Mareva decision, which introduced what has become a globally influential injunction.

Originally developed as a domestic remedy within the English Commercial Courts to prevent the dissipation of assets, the Mareva injunction has since evolved into a vital tool in cross-border litigation. The Treasurer of Gray’s Inn, the Right Honourable Lady Justice Geraldine Andrews, will open the session with a keynote address reflecting on the remedy’s development over the past five decades.

Following this, the Treasurer will be joined by a distinguished panel comprising Justice Philip Jeyaretnam, President of the Singapore International Commercial Court, Mr Christopher Lau SC as well as Ms Jacqueline Perry KC and Ms Sophie Lamb KC. Together, they will explore the injunction’s modern applications, its global significance, and its relevance in jurisdictions such as Singapore, where it continues to play a critical role in the administration of commercial justice.
