Title: The Legacy of Sir Sydney Kentridge KC
Thomas Grant KC will provide a talk on the life, work and advocacy of Sir Sydney Kentridge KC. Thomas Grant KC is the author of The Mandela Brief, published in Summer 2022. The talk will be followed by a panel discussion which will look at the progress of the South African Bar in the post-apartheid era and the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion to the Rule of Law.
Sir Sydney Kentridge KCMG KC SC is of the great advocates of the 20th century. His practice in South Africa, covered all areas of law. He represented numerous high-profile anti-apartheid figures including Albert Luthuli, Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, and the family of Steve Biko. After moving to Brick Court Chambers in 1978, he then enjoyed a pre-eminent career at the Bar of England and Wales.
The audience will include barrister and student members of the Inn. A reception will follow in the Large Pension Room.
This event will also be available to our Members in the Northern Circuit where Nine Chambers will host an in-person screening of the lecture.
