Mixed Messes provides an opportunity to socialise in small groups with Benchers and Members of Hall and to learn about the Inn and the profession.
The evening begins with a drinks reception where you can meet other attendees and later dine with barrister and judicial members of the Inn. Dinner is preceded by a lecture given by a guest of the Treasurer.
Title: Lady Justice Geraldine Andrews on the advocacy of Sir James Hunt
The final lecture within the Great Advocates series will be delivered by our Treasurer, Lady Justice Andrews. The subject of the lecture will be the advocacy of Sir James Hunt.
James Hunt QC was Head of Chambers at 36 Bedford Row and was a Bencher of Gray’s Inn. He was appointed as a High Court judge in 2000. He practised mainly in criminal law on the Midland Circuit (of which was the Circuit Leader from 1996-1999) and was well known for his ability to connect with a jury, his commanding presence in court and impressive speaking style.
He played a major role in developing advocacy training at the Inns of Court and trained many junior barristers at the Inn and on his Circuit. In recognition of his work, the Inn awards The James Hunt Prize for Advocacy to the best advocate on our Pupil Advocacy Course.
