Members of Gray’s Inn recently competed in the 33rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, one of the world’s leading international mooting competitions.
Each year, a Gray’s Inn team enters the Vis Moot. Students completed the Inn’s International Arbitration course, followed by coaching from our fantastic team of volunteer barristers, before 8 students progress to join the competition.
Following months of preparation and pre-moots, the team represented the Inn with professionalism, enthusiasm and strong advocacy skills throughout the preliminary rounds. The competition provided invaluable experience in international commercial law and arbitration, as well as the opportunity to engage with peers and practitioners from around the globe.
Reflecting on the week, team member Chloe Roberts, who received an honourable mention for best oralist, commented:
“The team really came together, supporting one another and bringing a real sense of personality to our final pleadings. After months of hard work, we were able to enjoy the experience and have fun as a team.”
Gray’s Inn thanks the Vis Moot organisers, judges, coaches and participating teams for making the competition such a rewarding experience, and congratulates our Members on an inspiring mooting journey.
