We are pleased to announce that The Rt Hon Sir Andrew McFarlane has succeeded The Rt Hon Lady Justice Geraldine Andrews DBE as Master Treasurer 2026.
Master McFarlane was called by Gray’s Inn in 1977 and has been a Bencher since 2003. He is President of the Family Division and Head of Family Justice.
In his role, he handles cases involving divorce, children disputes (including adoption and wardship), and judgments for those unable to make decisions for themselves (e.g., in persistent vegetative states). He is also the President of the Court of Protection and chairs the Family Justice Council.
Master McFarlane has been a prominent advocate for greater transparency in the family court system, working to open up proceedings to journalists and the public. He is also the co-author of the well-known legal text Children: Law and Practice.
