The Inn is delighted to note the Judicial appointments of the following Gray’s Inn Members in January 2025.
Deni Mathews
The King has appointed Deni Mathews to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed him to the Midlands Circuit, based at Shrewsbury Crown Court, with effect from 10 February 2025.
Deni Mathews will be known as His Honour Judge Deni Mathews. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1996. He was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber, in 2006 and as a Deputy District Judge in 2021.

Thomas Fazackerley
The King has appointed Thomas Fazackerley to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed him to the Northern Circuit, based at Chester County Court with effect from 3 February 2025.
Thomas Fazackerley will be known as District Judge Fazackerley. He was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2009 and was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 2010. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2021.
