Avik Mukherjee
The Lady Chief Justice is pleased to announce that, following an Expressions of Interest exercise, His Honour Judge Avik Mukherjee has been appointed as Resident Judge at Stafford Crown Court for a period of four years commencing from 1 July 2025.
The Lady Chief Justice wishes His Honour Judge Avik Mukherjee well in his new role.

Andrew Lees
The Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill has appointed His Honour Judge Andrew Lees to be a Senior Circuit Judge, Resident Judge based at Woolwich Crown Court, with effect from 16 June 2025.
Andrew Lees will continue to be known as His Honour Judge Andrew Lees. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1984. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2001 and as a Circuit Judge in 2010.

David Foxton
His Majesty The King has been pleased to approve the appointments of Mr Justice Foxton as Lord Justice of Appeal.
These appointments will fill vacancies within the Court of Appeal.
- The Lady Chief Justice is pleased that The King has announced the appointment. Each has served with distinction on the High Court Bench and will bring their respective judicial knowledge and experience to their new roles.
Mr Justice David Foxton was Called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1989 and took Silk in 2006. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2009, as a s9(4) Deputy High Court Judge (King’s Bench Division and Chancery Division) in 2016 and as a High Court Judge to the King’s Bench Division in 2020.

Amanda Yip
His Majesty The King has been pleased to approve the appointments of Mrs Justice Amanda Yip as Lady Justice of Appeal.
These appointments will fill vacancies within the Court of Appeal.
- The Lady Chief Justice is pleased that The King has announced the appointment. Each has served with distinction on the High Court Bench and will bring their respective judicial knowledge and experience to their new roles.
Mrs Justice Amanda Yip was Called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1991 and took Silk in 2011. She was appointed as a Recorder in 2008, authorised to hear cases under section 9(1) of the Senior Courts Act 1981 in 2013 and was appointed as a High Court Judge to the King’s Bench Division in 2017. She has been the Deputy Senior Presiding Judge for England and Wales since 2024.
