The Inn is delighted to note the Judicial appointment of the following Gray’s Inn Members in October 2025.
Nicholas Lavender
The Senior President of Tribunals, Lord Justice Dingemans, has appointed the Honourable Mr Justice Lavender to be the President of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber of the Upper Tribunal with effect from 2 October 2025, in succession to the Honourable Mr Justice Dove, who stood down from the role on 1 October 2025.
Mr Justice Lavender was called to the Bar in 1989, took Silk in 2008, became a High Court Judge, assigned to the King’s Bench Division, in 2016 and was a Presiding Judge of the North Eastern Circuit from 2019 to 2022.

James Bromige
The King has appointed James Bromige to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lammy MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed him to the Western Circuit, with effect from 2 January 2026.
James Bromige will be known as His Honour Judge Bromige. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 2010. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2020 and as a Fee-paid Employment Judge in 2021.

Kevin Slack
The King has appointed Kevin Slack to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lammy MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed him to the Northern Circuit, based at Manchester Crown Court, with effect from 5 November 2025.
Kevin Slack will be known as His Honour Judge Slack. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1997. He was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Health, Education and Social Care Chamber, in 2021. He was also appointed as a Recorder in 2022.
