Bar Course Scholarships

Gray’s will award at least £1.3 million in scholarships each year.

In 2022 we expect to award 75 to 85 Bar Course scholarships which start at £5,000 and can increase up to £30,000 when factoring in a Residential Scholarships. 

 I wouldn’t be able to continue my training without the funding. The scholarship is really important to the progression of my career.

2022 Applications

The next application period for 2022 Bar Course Scholarships:

• opens Friday 17 September 2021
• closes at midnight on Friday 5 November 2021

If shortlisted, you will be interviewed between the 7-9 March 2022 (exact interview dates are published on the online application form).

The Hale, Bedingfield and Prince of Wales Scholarships are the Inn’s most prestigious Bar Course scholarships and are reserved for outstanding candidates of exceptional merit.

Residential Scholarships

There are 15 Residential Scholarships available to those awarded a Bar Course scholarship. 

Named scholarships 

In 2019, additional named scholarships were established which were named after several prominent female members of the Inn to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act 1919. This included The Baroness Hale of Richmond Scholarships in recognition of the lifetime achievements of our very own Master Hale, former President of the Supreme Court.
