The Inn is delighted to note the Judicial appointments of the following Gray’s Inn Members in November 2023.

Alexia Power

The King has appointed Alexia Power to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The former Lord Chief Justice deployed her to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Snaresbrook Crown Court with effect from 27 November 2023.

Alexia Power will be known as Her Honour Judge Power. She was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1992. She was appointed as a Recorder in 2018.

Richard Kelly

The King has appointed Richard Kelly to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The former Lord Chief Justice deployed him to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Ipswich Crown Court with effect from 13 November 2023.

Richard Kelly will be known as His Honour Judge Richard Kelly. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1994. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2019.

David Bailey KC

The Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Baroness Carr Of Walton-on-the-Hill, has appointed 11 Deputy High Court Judges, under section 9(4) of the Senior Courts Act 1981, for a single fixed six-year term. The appointments run from 27 November 2023 to 26 November 2029. David Bailey KC has been appointed following an open competition run by the Judicial Appointments Commission.
