We are delighted to announce that the following three Members have been awarded The Churchill Internship Scholarship in 2023.

2023 Churchill Scholarship awardees

The purpose of The Churchill Scholarship is to enable the winner to undertake further study, an internship or work placement abroad, either at a university or with those in an international practice, normally for a period of at least three months in some aspect of foreign or Commonwealth Law.

Joshua Daley

Undertaking work experience at the International Criminal Court (ICC) as a visiting professional in the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP). This placement will run for three months at the seat of the ICC in The Hague.

Within the OTP, Joshua Davey aims to work in the Preliminary Examination Selection (PES) team, which oversees the legal and factual assessment of all referred situations and Article 15 communications in order to determine whether an investigation into a situation should be initiated.

Mashal Aamir

To work at PSCORE: People for Successful Corean Reunification. PSCORE is an NGO advocating an end to human rights abuses in North Korea by acting internationally in schools, universities, and at an international level such as at the United Nations alongside a close relationship with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC).

PSCORE assist North Korean defectors in legal recourse, settlement status in South Korea, education programmes and further empower them with life skills for reintegration into society. They are known for their education programme and have assisted refugees in escaping dangerous situations and becoming South Korean citizens.

Victoria Quinn

Hopes to volunteer with Amicus to support their research on capital punishment and defence, through their general volunteer placement scheme. The work they do aims to provide research for strategic litigation. Volunteering through this project involves spending a minimum of three months in Saint Louis, Missouri.
