The Advocacy day is a unique opportunity
for university students who are interested in a career at the bar are not yet members of an Inn of court.
We are running two Advocacy Day's in the academic year 2018 to 2019. Both events will follow the same format. Places are limited for each event.
The day will offer an opportunity to meet and listen to what leading barristers say are the key elements of good advocacy; to participate in a facilitated case analysis, ethics discussions and finally, under the guidance of accredited advocacy trainers, to get on your feet and perform a bit of advocacy. Saturday evening will end with a reception hosted by judicial and barrister members of the Inn, all of whom sit and/or practise in all areas of law and at all levels.
Where: Gray's Inn When: Saturday 30 March 2019 Time: 1pm to 7.30pm Cost: Free with subsidised travel Programme
Talks on advocacy, scholarships and the role of the Inns from barristers
Advocacy and ethics training in small groups from barristers
Reception in Hall hosted by members of the Inn
Application form – 30 March 2019
This application form is for Saturday 30 March 2019. If we are unable to offer you a place on March event, you may apply again for the Advocacy Day in October 2019 - please select yes to the Gray's Inn mailing list to be notified when the second application round is open.
Application deadline: 9am, Wednesday 27 February 2019
Submit the below application form no later than the above deadline to apply for a place.
Places are limited. We will confirm whether your application has been successful by Wednesday 6th March.
You may apply on this occasion and not be successful in gaining a place due to space restrictions. Don’t let that put you off pursuing a career at the Bar.
If you have previously attended one of our University Advocacy Days you will not be eligible to attend this event.
Have you previously attended a Gray's Inn event?
If you have previously attended an event at the Inn, this will not automatically preclude you from attending again and we sill encourage you to apply. However, dependent on the number of applications we receive, we may need to offer those who have not previously attended an event first preference.
