This event will be delivered remotely using Zoom. A link to the join the event will be sent by email 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time. Please ensure you have joined before the session is due to start.

Qualifying Sessions 

Qualifying Session (QS): 1 QS
Theme: Preparation for Pupillage, Career Development and Wellbeing.
Learning outcomes:

  • Discuss the format of online hearings and the key differences with in-person hearings.
  • Identify best practice and sources of advice for junior practitioners relating to advocacy for virtual hearings.
  • Discuss the nature of advocacy, specifically submissions and witness handling, in a virtual hearing.
  • Consider the perspectives of judges and practitioners on the future virtual hearings.

This QS relates to the following elements of the Professional Statement for Barristers:  1.3, 1.4, 1.16, 1.17, 2.1, 3.1, 3.2, 3.4, 3.5, 4.1, 4.4
