Senior Scholarships for Pupillage

These are the Inn's most prestigious scholarships, awarded to four pupils of exceptional merit.

To reflect this distinction the scholarships are conferred by the Treasurer at the Pupil Course Trial Exercise

2022 Applications

The next Senior Scholarship application period (for pupillages commencing late 2022 or from January 2023*):

  • opens 18 November 2022
  • closes 6 January 2023

*Please email the scholarships team for further information if your pupillage does not commence in Michaelmas 2022. 

If shortlisted, viva voce interviews will be held 14-15 February 2023 (exact interview dates will be published on the online application form).

Senior Scholarships

All successful candidates will be awarded a £5,000 merit based scholarship.  

As with all major scholarships the general application process is the same, with the following additions for Senior Scholarship applications:

  • Candidates must have passed the BPTC / Bar Course examinations unconditionally at their first attempt to be eligible to apply 
  • Candidates who are invited to interview will undertake a viva voce examination
