The Gray’s Inn Debating Society meets fortnightly to help students develop their debating and public speaking skills. This student-led society offers an excellent opportunity to practise debating, refine advocacy techniques with feedback from peers and barristers, and prepare for debate-style pupillage interview questions – all within an informal and supportive environment. All student Members of Gray’s Inn are warmly invited to take part.
The sessions are divided into two streams: beginner and advanced. The beginner stream introduces students to British Parliamentary Debating and guides them through the basics before progressing to formal debates. The advanced stream is designed for experienced speakers who will take part in full debates at every session.
Meetings are typically held on Mondays at 6pm at Gray’s Inn, lasting between 60 and 90 minutes. Specific room details are listed below.
