GIBC Practitioner Mentoring Scheme
The GIBC Practitioner Mentoring Scheme can be a valuable source of support during your early years of practice. Whether you need guidance on moving into a different practice area, moving from the Self-Employed Bar to the Employed Bar (or vice-versa) or you simply have an issue that you would feel more comfortable discussing with someone outside of your Chambers or organisation, it can be a real help to have a mentor from the Inn.
Mentoring for practitioners is primarily aimed at second-six pupils, junior barristers, and barristers who are movers or returners (barristers returning to practice (returners) following a period of absence, or considering a move of location or practice area (movers).
Barrister members are also encouraged to assist by volunteering as a Mentor. This scheme offers Gray’s Inn student, pupil and new practitioner members the opportunity to be mentored by a local barrister practising in the area of law in which they are seeking pupillage or practising.
