Each year we host our annual Moot Competition, an exhilarating contest where student members go head-to-head to showcase their advocacy skills with the chance to win the Nicholls Memorial Prize worth £1000, generously donated by 3RB Chambers.
All are encouraged to enter!
The competition provides a great opportunity to practice making submissions in front of members of the judiciary and your peers. You will receive individual and constructive feedback following each round.
No matter how far you progress, we hope you will learn a lot, grow in confidence and have another accolade to add onto your CV!
Mooters compete as individuals in four competition rounds over the course of the year. From fast-paced multi moots to in-depth senior moots where proceedings are overseen by High Court judges.
The problems may be drawn from any area of law so knowledge and research skills will truly be tested.

- How the ballot works
How the ballot works:
To ensure everyone has a fair chance at applying for the Moot Competition, we use a ballot system to allocate spaces.
This system is intended to be the fairest way of giving everyone a chance to apply for tickets.
A ballot is not conducted on a first come, first served basis and so, you can apply at any time during the ballot window without it affecting your chances. Entering the ballot is not a guarantee that you will receive a space.
At the end of the application window, the ballot will be run, and tickets will be allocated to applicants at random. Successful applicants will be confirmed from 3 December 2025 and invited to make payment by latest 10 December 2025.
Please be advised that places are limited. If you do not receive a place, you will automatically be added onto the reserve list.
Should the event occur that we are oversubscribed, priority may be given to those who require the qualifying sessions to be Called.
