A quarto manuscript from the late thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, on 228 leaves. The manuscript includes illustrations in the margins of the text. The manuscript was a gift to the Dominian convent of Sudbury, Suffolk in 1257, and perhaps to the church of Melbourne, Derbyshire, in 1514. It later came into the possession of Gray’s Inn.
There is writing running off the edge of one flyleaf, as this page was cut and repurposed from an older, larger manuscript.
The manuscript is bound in medieval calf over wooden boards. It has been rebacked and has a brass chain staple.
More information can be found in A Catalogue of the Ancient Manuscripts Belonging to the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn by Alfred Horwood, published 1869.
