Manuscript 8 (MS8) – L’Horloge De Sapience by Henry Suso translated by Jehan de Souabe
A translation from Latin into French of Horologium Sapientiae (“Clock of Wisdom”) by Jehan de Souhabe, a Franciscan friar. The Horologium was originally composed in Latin by the Dominican friar Henry Suso (1295-1366) and is divided into two books.

A manuscript folio on 120 leaves. It is from the fifteenth century, dated 1433. The text is written in cursive script. There are penwork initials in red and blue ink.
The manuscript features a contemporary binding of leather stamped with lions, cockerels and pelicans in vertical rows. This binding has been extensively repaired and rebacked and has a brass chain staple.
