Manuscript 11 (MS11) – Speculum Religiosorum and Stimulus Amoris

This manuscript contains two works – Speculum Religiosorum (the mirror of the religious) and Stimulus Amoris (the stimulus of love).

    A large octavo manuscript from the fourteenth century, on 167 leaves. The text is Latin in textura script, which is a calligraphic script. Like MS2, the manuscript was copied by Brother Ralphe Wynche and is from a Franciscan convent in Chester. 

    The manuscript is bound in seventeenth century calf. It has been rebacked and has a brass chain staple.
