A folio manuscript from either the late thirteenth or early fourteenth century, on 241 leaves. The text is in Latin and written in cursive script.

This manuscript was presented to the Honourable Society by John Godbold, Recorder at Bury St. Edmund’s and serjeant-at-law, who was a member of Gray’s Inn. There is no evidence of earlier ownership, although on the 1st page and in folio 230a of the volume there are traces of older names which have been defaced.

The manuscript is bound in seventeenth century calf. There is a printed donor label attributed to John Godbold mounted under horn on the upper cover which states that the volume was presented to Gray’s Inn in 1635.

More information can be found in A Catalogue of the Ancient Manuscripts Belonging to the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn by Alfred Horwood, published 1869.
