Dame Rose Heilbron (1914-2005; called 1939) was one of the country’s most famous barristers. In 1949 she was one of the first two women to be made a KC (the other was Helena Normanton) and later she was the first woman judge to sit at the Old Bailey. In 1985 she was appointed the Inn’s first female Treasurer.
This photograph is from Graya No. 30, Michaelmas 1949, on the occasion of her appointment as a KC.
