The Bar Vocational Course (BVC) (now known as the Bar Course), is expanded to additional providers throughout the UK.
The Bar Vocational Course (BVC), known as the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) from the 2010-11 academic year, was provided solely by the Inns of Court School of Law until 1997. From the 1997-1998 academic year, the BVC expanded to several new providers both in and outside of London. The number of required Qualifying Sessions students must complete at their Inn (before they could be called to the Bar) was also reduced from 18 to 12.
The BPTC is the next stage of training in becoming a barrister after completing a qualifying law degree or a non-law degree and conversion course.
In 2001 the Inns of Court School of Law was integrated into City Law School.
